Economic Development & Revitalization Committee
Purpose
The Economic Development & Revitalization Committee is a standing committee of City Council. The Committee's overall goal is to develop an integrated community approach to the revitalization of the City through the development and recognition of partnerships for improving the downtown core areas, the City-owned industrial park, City promotion, and improved signage.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Economic Development & Revitalization Committee are briefly outlined below.
- Downtown Revitalization - to address the needs of the commercial/retail sector in Quinte West through partnerships, such as the Downtown Business Improvement Area and the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce, as well as improved communications between businesses and the City
- Farmers' Market - to establish ways of increasing vendor participation, to organize specific events to bring residents/visitors to the market and to implement “Branding” tools to further promote the market to the Quinte area
- Tourism Development - to assist in special initiatives that enhance the profile of Quinte West as a tourism destination, promote sustainable tourism within the area, and attract tourism investment
- Business Retention & Expansion - to address the needs and concerns of business in Quinte West and to be aware of business expansion and relocation plans through improved communications between businesses and the City
- Marketing/Signage and Promotion - to continue promoting Quinte West through the marketing/signage and promotion themes that are "branded" throughout the City
