Libraries
Public libraries are a vibrant and integral component of the fabric of their communities, offering a wide variety of materials, programs and services. Quinte West Public Library is no exception. With branches in both Trenton and Frankford, the library strives to meet the needs of our users with a collection of more than 117, 200 items. In 2007, the library welcomed more than 116,600 visitors at its two branches, lending over 274,500 items. Our free public access Internet workstations are available to all users. Professional staff answer more than 10,000 information requests per year. If we can't find the answer in our library, we'll go to other libraries across Ontario to find out.
Programs and Services
Quinte West Public Library provides programs and services to people of all ages and backgrounds. Aside from the expected books and magazines and the above mentioned Internet workstations, the library also stocks music CDs, educational and entertainment DVDs, as well as books on CD or cassette for both the visually impaired and the sited reader. Users with a home computer can log onto the library's web site at www.library.quintewest.com to search for material, place holds for pickup or renew items. We also offer free access to a variety of information databases, many also available to the home user through our website. If you can't make it into the library to find information, click on "Ask a Librarian" tool on our website.
Partnerships
Partnerships with other organizations enrich the library experience for our users. From the reciprocal borrowing agreement with the Belleville Public Library, allowing users with a valid library card from either library to use the collections of the other, to our relationship with the Ontario Genealogy Society — Quinte Branch which provides genealogy research assistance, users find a wealth of information at the Quinte West Public Library.
Job Resource Centre
Also of note is our Job Resource Centre provided through an agreement with Ontario's Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Here, clients receive assistance with resume writing, interview skills, online job applications, employment counselling and job search preparation. The Job Resource Centre will be offering workshops on Resume Writing, Job Search Strategies and Interview Tips and Techniques.
