The City of Quinte West has created an interactive IT/GIS HELP DESK that will assist residents with questions that relate to the IT/GIS services provided at the City of Quinte West.

The purpose of the HELP DESK is to record and resolve any questions or requests for service that the Public may have. Since IT/GIS can sometimes be an intimidating and frustrating process, it is hoped that our HELP DESK will assist users and develop a level of comfort that will encourage and foster IT/GIS usage in the City of Quinte West.

In 2005, the City introduced an e-commerce application for work orders, tax certificates, and zoning certificates. More recently, the City introduced a new e-commerce application which gives residents the ability to pay certain municipal services such as water bills and taxes online via credit card.

Also in 2005, the City launched it's international award winning Public web-based GIS website. This site allows the Public to "Surf the City" from the comfort of their home and see the municipality like never before. The City's Public website is the top rated Community Interactive GIS site on the major internet search engines. The City won an ESRI International Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) award in 2007.

In 2007, City IT/GIS staff developed "TAX QUEST", an interactive municipal property tax calculator for our residents. The application has been further refined and has been sold to other Ontario municipalities as "MPT Calculator". In 2008, staff developed the "MPT Estimator" in response to the new provincial property reasessments initiated by MPAC.
