The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) holds the Senior Administrative position in the City's organization. All Department Heads, on behalf of Public Works and Environmental Services, Corporate and Financial Services, Planning and Development Services, Protective Services and Human Resources, report directly to the CAO.

 

 

The key responsibilities of the Chief Administrative Officer include:

  • Coordinating all City departments to ensure the efficient implementation of City Council policies and directives.
     
  • Preparing and implementing the City's Corporate Strategic Plan.
     
  • Investigating, research and preparing, either directly or through delegation, information for the development of Council policies.
     
  • Providing advice and recommendations to City Council on issues affecting the municipality.
     
  • Providing administrative leadership to and for the City.
     
  • Ensuring the development and administration of personnel policies including the implementation of statutory rules and regulations in the areas of pay equity and municipal freedom of information legislation.
     
  • Ensuring the effective and efficient training of City staff.
     
  • Recruiting high quality staff according to the human resources policies of the City.
