The Manager provides leadership in negotiating agreements and ensuring that employee-management relationships are effectively instituted and maintained.

Public Works and Environmental Services Department

WATER/WASTEWATER SERVICES DIVISION

Invites applications for

COMPLIANCE TECHNICIAN
(Maternity Leave Position 6-12 months)

The City of Quinte West Public Works Services – Water/Wastewater Services Division is currently inviting applications for a Compliance Technician to cover a maternity leave.

Primary Responsibilities:

    •   Assist the Manager of Water and Wastewater Services with a wide variety of technical and administrative work;

    •   Ensure regulatory compliance of the water and wastewater operations;

    •   Assist operations staff in staying current with environmental requirements as they pertain to City-owned water and wastewater facilities;

    •   Ensure and maintain legislated compliance in the water and sewer division;

    •   Focus on quality customer service.

Summary of Qualifications:

    •   Position prefers a minimum of five (5) years experience in the field of water treatment and wastewater treatment systems;

    •   The successful candidate will have proven interpersonal skills;

    •   Effective time management, analytical and problem solving skills;

    •   Valid Class III Operator’s License for Water Treatment facilities is preferred;

    •   Valid Class II Operator’s License for Wastewater Treatment facilities is preferred;

    •   Comprehensive knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations i.e. OHSA, SWDA, MOE Regulations and the Sustainable Water & Sewer Act;

    •   The successful applicant shall have superior computer skills i.e. Excel, Word, Water Trax and SCADA are preferred

Remuneration: 40hr./week wage to be negotiated dependent on qualifications. Vacation allowance in accordance with the minimum standards of the Employment Standards Act and will be paid to you on a biweekly basis at 4% of your regular earnings. As a CONTRACT employee you will not be eligible to participate in the Employer’s extended health benefits plan.

Public Works and Environmental Services Department

invites applications for an

Operator II

The City of Quinte West Public Works and Environmental Services Department is currently inviting applications for the Operator II position.

The Operator II is required to be able to operate heavy equipment such as a snow plow and wing, dump truck, bulldozer, bombardier and mower as examples. This position is responsible for completing tasks assigned to them by the Manager of Outdoor Operations and is expected to conduct themselves in a professional and safe manner while performing these tasks on behalf of the municipality.

The position requires at minimum of two (2) years experience in a municipal Public Works environment operating heavy equipment.

Experience in municipal urban, semi-urban and/or rural infrastructure matters including equipment utilized in the road system is necessary. A valid Ontario Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract, valid DZ License with Air Brake Certificate is required.

The position requires a comprehensive knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act regulations relative to signage and pavement markings, as well as an understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations

Remuneration:  2010 C.U.P.E. Salary Grid $20.55/hr. - $22.09/hr. (40 hrs./wk.)  The City offers an attractive benefits package.
