COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT PLAN

In response to the loss of business and social activity within the commercial cores and the subsequent deterioration of the physical properties within these areas, the City of Quinte West has embarked upon a program to identify the means by which to revitalize and re-shape the physical and social environment of the commercial core areas.
The Community Improvement Plan provides objectives for public and private property improvements and establishes financial incentives for property owners to encourage the revitalization and continued economic stability of the commercial core areas of the community.
The Quinte West Community Improvement Plan for the Commercial Core Areas provides a framework for the creation and implementation of various programs to achieve, promote and encourage improvements in the downtown and waterfront areas of Wards 1(Trenton) and 4(Frankford) in the City of Quinte West.
The following objectives shall apply to both the Trenton and Frankford Wards Community Improvement Project Area:
- To encourage the continued vitality and economic viability of the commercial cores in all seasons;
- To stimulate new investment in public and private lands;
- To encourage consistency in urban design and signage while recognizing the importance of diversity and character of the existing built form;
- To create an attractive image of the City that reflects the historic character and heritage of the community;
- To reinforce the commercial cores as a focus for the community;
- To improve connections between commercial areas, the waterfront and recreational trails and to improve pedestrian access within the core areas; and
- To provide incentives for the rehabilitation of the commercial core areas as an attractive and vibrant destination for the citizens of, and visitors to the City.
