WATER SUPPLY REPORTS
The City of Quinte West Public Works Department has prepared its Annual Water Supply Report. It is estimated that approximately 25,000 residents receive drinking water from one of four City operated treatment plants. The 2008 Annual Compliance Report contains an extensive description of each of the four city facilities. It also includes similar information for the additional
systems operated by City staff.
This report may be viewed at City Hall, 7 Creswell Drive, Trenton, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Trenton Water Treatment Plant
Trenton's conventionally designed W.T.P. is located on the east shoreline of the Trent River immediately above Dam No. 1.
The river water passes through travelling screens as it enters the low lift pumping station wet well by gravity. The water is pumped by one of or a combination of five low lift pumps to a raw water header where aluminum sulphate is applied as a coagulant prior to flow through an in-line mixer.
The water then enters flocculation tanks which consist of primary and secondary mixing chambers and mechanical mixers. The flow then enters and passes through settling tanks where gravity separates the suspended particles from the water, and pre chlorination is applied. The supernatent water from the settling tanks passes onto dual media filters which remove remaining suspended particles. The filtered water is chlorinated again before flowing into a reservoir
and finished water well before being pumped into the distribution system.
Trenton's Filtration Plant has a rated capacity of 7.5 MGD and is the nucleus of Trenton's Water Production and system facilities.
